About Givenchy
Renowned throughout the world for his exquisite taste and style, Hubert de Givenchy was born in 1927 in Beauvais, France. Having shown a passion for fashion and a flair for creation since childhood, Givenchy moved to Paris at the age of 17 and studied under some of the great masters of the time. Hubert de Givenchy opened his Maison de Couture on February 2nd 1952. It was not long before his clothes collections became an enormous success and he was dressing famous figures such as Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Taylor, Marlene Dietrich and Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis. In 1957 Hubert de Givenchy launched his own perfumery division, and his classic elegance was well suited to fragrance. His second fragrance, L'Interdit, was inspired by the legendary icon Audrey Hepburn.In 1980 Hubert de Givenchy was voted Personality of the Year and Most Elegant Man of the Year.

Today, Givenchy is still the first word in elegance and both its classic and modern styles are an inspiration to icons around the world. Some of the most recent women's fragrances include Oblique, Hot Couture and Amarige, while the very first perfume to be launched by Givenchy, known as De, is still coveted by many.
